Don’t Let Summer Snake Up on Your Pet

Warmer weather means more activity for you, your pet…and snakes!

Copperheads are the most common venomous snake in our region, and they’re found statewide. Kimberling Animal Hospital now carries the rattlesnake vaccine which is also effective for bites from copperheads, cottonmouths and other poisonous snakes. This vaccine reduces inflammation from a bite and gives a dog 6 – 8 hours of time to see a veterinarian before renal failure begins.

You can also reduce your pet’s chances of being bitten by staying on trails, out of marshy areas, and not letting a dog sniff around rocks, in tall grasses, or any place you can’t see.

To get your pet vaccinated, make an appointment online or call us at 417-739-4090.
